You can ask SPANA to delete your account and your personal data at any time, whether you are a customer or a service provider. This page explains how to make the request, what we remove, what we are legally required to keep, and how long the process takes.
If you are signed in, you can also delete your account instantly from the app: open Account Settings → Danger and confirm with the word DELETE. That route removes your profile, provider listing, skills and notifications straight away; the email route below is for the full deletion of everything tied to your account.
Once your deletion request is processed, we permanently remove:
Deletion is permanent. Once your account is removed it cannot be restored, and you would need to register again to use SPANA.
SPANA keeps payment records — the amount, date, currency, request-fee tier and payment reference of transactions you made — because South African tax and accounting law requires proof of payment to be kept for 5 years.
These retained records are used only for accounting, audits, refunds and dispute handling. They are not used for marketing, they are not shown on the app or in public directories, and access to them is restricted to authorised staff and our payment processor, Paystack.
Deletion is completed within 30 days of your request. We send you a confirmation email once your account and data have been removed. Payment records that the law requires us to keep remain stored for the 5-year period described above.
You can withdraw a deletion request at any time before we confirm it is complete — just reply to the confirmation email we sent you.
SPANA (Pty) Ltd processes personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Under POPIA you have the right to request the deletion or destruction of your personal information that we no longer have a legal or contractual reason to keep, and we stop using it for marketing as soon as you ask.
Our Information Officer handles deletion and privacy requests at vusumuziisaac@gmail.com. If you are unhappy with how we handled your request, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. Full details of what we collect and how we protect it are in our Privacy Notice.
If you would rather pause your account, stop notifications, or just check what data we hold before deleting anything, email the same address and we will help before anything is removed.
Ready to delete your account?
Email vusumuziisaac@gmail.com with the subject Delete My Account. We confirm every request and complete deletion within 30 days.
